Arriving in Scotland in the early 70s its harbour towns and shores have been my constant inspiration. Their bustling waterfronts filled with incredible colour shape and form and the rich rolling fields, with crops and wild flowers are now just minutes from my studio.
I see colour and pattern everywhere and these are referenced through photography and drawing. Development is through the use of mixed media and mark making creating an abstract composition. These marks are then built up in layers onto cloth, by hand screen printing and painting using dye and pigment to create simple but striking designs with a Scandinavian feel. The cloth of linen silk or wool is then transformed by hand into fashion and interior accessories.
