Following on from a previous post I am now working on assignment 2 for which I’ve to write a 1,500 – 2,000 word enterprise proposal. To aid us we are using the brilliant NestaToolkit an interactive resource which helps you plan, build, and start your new creative business.
So what is my creative business idea – well here goes…………….
to provide a creative textile base where people can learn create and grow
My idea is to create a studio space where recent textile design graduates can print. After graduation there are no available spaces for hand screen printing textiles especially using reactive and acid dyes and then to have steaming facilities. The DCA in Dundee has amazing printing facilities for paper printing and although it is possible to print small sizes and quantities of textiles using acrylic paint and textile binder these don’t have the same handle as fabrics printed the way we’re taught.
So over the week I’ve been studying book one
GETTING OFF THE GROUND – HOW TO SET UP A CREATIVE BUSINESS
using this helps you to define the values you’d like your business to embody and develop a mission statement.
My values have been split into sections and have been changed twice this week and will no doubt change again! Choices include the following
|AchievementAdvancement and promotion
Change and variety
Helping other people
| Job tranquility
Power and authority
Quality of what I take part in
Responsibility and accountability
Work life balance
Work under pressure
Work with others
Mission Statement – to provide a creative textile base where people can learn create and grow.
With this in mind I then went on to look at evidence modelling which is intended to help you look at what impact your business may have on the world in terms of enhancing, revival, replacement and backlash.
we now have to look at where we see our SWOT’s!
Now I’m off to design me some fake evidence!!! Got to think where I’d love to see my work/ my studio featured – no doubt about where – off to design
